As the nation celebrates the first-ever federally regarded Juneteenth vacation, Google (GOOG, GOOGL) has declared a $50 million unrestricted grant to 10 traditionally Black faculties and universities (HBCUs). The grant signifies the tech giant’s largest commitment to date for HBCUs and builds on Google’s Pathways to Tech initiative, which is part of the company’s racial equity initiative.
The 10 HBCUs acquiring cash contain Claflin College (SC), Clark Atlanta College (GA), Florida A&M University (FL), Howard College (DC), Morgan Condition University (MD), NC A&T Point out University (NC), Prairie Check out A&M College (TX), Spelman Higher education (GA), Tuskegee College (AL), and Xavier University (LA).

Google is also pledging $100 million in funding participation for Black-led funds companies, startups, and organizations supporting Black entrepreneurs. Parker notes that this move, particularly after the COVID-19 pandemic, is an essential move for sustainability and balance for Black company house owners.
“What we’re hearing from our business people is the big difference that it’s designed in the way that they are equipped to support their small business. Through Develop with Google we also have more initiatives this kind of as digital coaches that offer entrepreneurial help. We have loads of means that people can acquire advantage of to definitely near the financial prosperity hole and to provide that sustainable equity that we know is critical.”
